The month is September and as a child, my grandmother would bring me to the town plaza to watch the Balye sa Kalye , the most awaited event in Bañamos festival of our municipality. Pagkain ng Pinoy pagyamanin, malnutrisyon ating sugpuin, kalamidad sama-samang harapin, paksang tinatalakay ngayon, isyung kinakaharap ng bayan at adhikain para sa ating mamamayan. Pagyamanin ang pagkaing Pinoy upang hindi mawala sa hapagkainan. Kagutuman ay ating sugpuin upang malnutrisyon ay maagapan. Kalamidad ay ating paghandaan upang sakuna’y mabawasan. Isa itong magandang adhikain para sa ating bansa. Isa itong mabuting misyon para sa ating mamamayan at ito ay isang maganda na paksa na dapat natin tutukan at masuportahan. Ang kultura ay parang babae – na dapat pinapahalagaan, iniingatan, inaalagaan at higit sa lahat pinagyayaman. Tulad ng pagkaing pinoy, dapat natin itong bigyang halaga upang mabigyang pansin pa rin hanggang ngayon. In the Philippine context, the history of cinema has just only reached its centennial year with the beginnings from 1917 when Malayan Movies, a film company founded by Jose Nepomuceno and his brother Jesus, was established, to 1919 when the first Filipino feature film was produced – Dalagang Bukid (Country Maiden), produced by the same company. Sa Kaharian ng Dagatanra ay may dalawang magkaibigan. Umusbong ang pagkakaibigan nila noong maliliit pa sila. Magkaibigan din ang mga magulang nila. Palagi rin silang nagkakasundo sa mga kalokohan ng bawat isa. Isang araw, pumasok sa isip ni Bugoy na pumunta sa kweba ng isang higanteng ahas habang nakikinig sa kwento ng isang matandang daga. Ang higanteng ahas ay ang nakaalitan noon ng kanilang pinuno. Ipinagtanggol ni Haring Mapatangra pati ng mga mandirigmang daga ang kanilang mamamayan dahil nanggugulo ang mga higanteng ahas sa palasyo subalit maraming nasawi sa sagupaan na iyon. Profound, complex, and beautiful.   The 2011 drama film of Alvin Yapan is an acclaimed motion picture that uses dance, poetry, and emotion to symbolize a deeper meaning about gender, sexuality, and character. The narrative involves a love triangle between Marlon (Paulo Avelino), Karen (Jean Garcia), and Dennis (Rocco Nacino). Dennis has started to invest emotionally on Marlon upon teaching him to dance to impress their literature teacher/dance instructor whom the latter is infatuated with. The film, however, does not focus solely on the romance of the characters but with the meaning behind every delivered poem, every dance routine, and every subtle projection of emotions through visual portrayal and effective sound. “Summer capital of the Philippines,” ganito binansagan ang lugar na Baguio City. Sa aking mga paglalakbay, isa ang Baguio sa aking mga hindi malilimutan. Tatlong beses na akong nakarating dito: ang unang dalawa (Septyembre 2007 at Mayo 2016) ay kasama ang aking pamilya at ang huli ay field trip sa aming paaralan (Oktubre 2016). “Hindi nakakasawa,” sabi ko sa aking isipan nang makarating muli ako.             Malamig ang klima rito, batid naman ito ng nakakarami; ito na siguro ang pangunahing dahilan ng mga turista sa kanilang pagbisita. Ipakita sa buong mundo na ang kultura at wikang Pilipino ay nararapat lamang pahalagahan at payabungin. Isang araw, may isang dayuhan na nagtanong sa’kin, “Are you Filipinos really like that?” Hindi ko ito nabatid at sinubukan kong linawin ang kanyang tanong. "Years from now, after I graduate I'll go back to my school and direct its plays," I told my Mom as we have our dinner. The very next day I was called by our school principal, Tr. Glo, and told me this, "I want you to be the assistant director of Sir Mike."  Sir Michael Medina is our resident director since the school started producing Disney's Musical Plays, and for this year's school play - he's going to direct Beauty and the Beast Jr. once more (as the school already did the same play ten years ago).  Having heard my principal, my mind was like "That escalated quickly." I was flattered by the offer. All I had to do is say YES and take it, and so I did. I even managed to make an anecdote out of my last night's conversation with my Mom and shared it with Tr.
