English Essays

The year was 2014 when I have written the most essays about random topics in my free time - essays that were not due to any deadlines. Yup, I miss those days when I can still do. I miss having such momentum in writing.

Here's a compilation of my English essays written since 2014 (and excerpts; click the title link to fully view) until today. From descriptive to persuasive, I have written different essays about different things. From having shallow and poor insights to intriguing thoughts and challenging topics, it truly takes time to evolve and words serve evidence.

Essay: LOVE, September 2014;
"Love is very powerful as the gravity in this world. Why? It is powerful as the gravity because love can conquer everything. Love is the only thing that still stands when everything has fallen. Love is very destructive as a disaster in the universe. How? If you love a person very much and that person does not love you back, it is more damaging than a destructive disaster. Many say that love makes people be blinded by everything and that’s why love is destructive. The truth is love is not blind, it sees but doesn’t mind. Love is very substantial as the oxygen in the atmosphere. Why? There’s no one in this world has lived without love. All of us need it. All of us want it. All of us wish it."

Essay: TIME AND CHANGE, September 2014;
"Time and Change are the things that are very distinctive from others. They are both constant and unstoppable. Time and Change are simultaneously occurring in this world. Change is only a matter of Time. Change will be always up-to-the-minute. It will happen every second in this world. Change will be experienced by all of us. We cannot stop the changes in this world but we can change Change ourselves. Time is boundless; nevertheless, our life has its own limits. Learn from the past logically. Use the present intellectually and prepare for the impending changes in the future reasonably."

"A world without Science is like Facebook without friends, YouTube without videos, Twitter with no trends, Instagram with no followers and Google without results. A world without technology is like a song without notes, a phone with no contacts, a movie without a plot, a pen with no ink and a book without writings. Science is the study of everything. Technology is the application of Science. Science helps our daily living. Technology improves our existence."

Essay: EGO VS. HUMANS, September 2014;
It is not about who's better in proving a point. It is about how good you are in controlling your ego,” a thoughtful advice from my classmate. That advice is a meaningful one. That statement ruled me on my every action. It becomes one of my life guides in associating people. But first, do you know what is ego? Do you have any idea on how it affects your relationship with others? Can you say how high or low your ego is? Can you manage it by associating your fellowmen? Do you ever mind your ego?"

Essay: LIFE, September 2014;
"Learn to appreciate life without holding a knife. It is alright to be wrong for us to know what’s right. There’s nothing perfect in this world and there’s no one can be on earth. Life is created that way. It is perfect with imperfections. We live in an imperfect creation but we should still try to succeed even the world is made that way. Succeed in life and you won’t be afraid to die. Accomplish something better so you won’t regret it later. Do things 'now' because sometimes 'later' becomes 'never'."

Essay: PHOBIA, October 2014;
"Do you fear anything? Is it too scary or creepy? Do your fears control you or can you control your fears? Can you manage your fears? Can you do whatever it takes just to overcome it? Do you let others know about your fears? Have you ever sought help to get rid of it? Have you ever thought if that fear really terrified you? All of us have something to fear. Most of us have something to hide from. Each one of us has something to keep with ourselves."

Essay: LIFE LIKE SEASONS, September 2014
"Our life is like seasons. It changes over time. Different disasters will come. Different challenges will surprise us. There comes a time when we’re in downfall like a dead leaf on the road. But remember, seasons change, so are we. Our life is in constant. If we fall, we can rise and if we’re broken, we must fix ourselves. Expect the season that we’re above the trials and obstacles in life and expect the season that our only enemy is the wild wind that will test us if we can survive."

Essay: HOPE, November 2014
Hope is the only thing that we can hold on to when everything has fallen. It is the only thing that most people keep with. Everything will be accomplished if we have trust and hope to ourselves. Hope makes people stronger. It makes us more eager to accomplish something we wanted. It can keep our life flowing. It is a fact that Hope is the reason why the impossible can be possible.

Essay: Youth - The Creator or The Destructor, December 2015
"Youth should be a part of the solution, not part of the pollution."

Essay: ANXIETY ABOUT THE FUTURE, May 2016
"Have you felt being pressured so much? To the extent that you don't know what to do anymore? You might have something in mind that you really wanted to do or wished to be done, but it is not that feasible. You would, but you could not. So at the end of the day, you'll be lying on your bed, staring at your plain ceiling and asking yourself over and over again, "what am I going to do with my life?" "This is what I wanted to do with my life but how am I supposed to do it? Where should I start?"

"“It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything,” said by Tyler Durden, the antagonist in the film Fight Club. That is one of the remarkable quotes in the film. Although it is a 1999 film, I still happened to watch it and when I did, it became one of my favorites and later became my all-time favorite. The first time I watched it, I was mind blown. It may sound exaggerated, but I actually am. I had an overwhelming feeling and was confused, enlightened, and shocked by the movie itself as I watch it. So why do you need to watch this film? Let me share my personal outlook about the film and offer you these three things: It is not any cliché movies that you watch, it has created controversies when it was released and this would make you wonder why, and it depicts a strong message which cannot be easily understood by the usual audience, but you are not supposed to be ‘usual’, you are supposed to be curious. So challenge yourself to find what the movie wants to convey."

Essay: CYBERBULLYING, September 2016;
"Remember that what you say reflects more about you than to the person you’re telling it to. Unfortunately, not everyone understands that. Cyber bullying might not have gathered great attention as other forms of bullying, but as individuals, we should advocate stopping cyberbullying. People who are being bullied are greatly damaged, cyberbullies abuse technology for their own wicked intentions, and the act itself is deemed to be immoral. Let us be the voice of those unheard screams, unspoken pleas, and silent victims. Let us stop cyberbullying by informing our friends and family of what it is, how it happens, and what the possible dangers are. Together, we stop cyberbullying to save the victims and to even prevent more people becoming one."

Essay: Courage, October 2016;
"Do you know what we lack? It’s the will to do something. We lack it, that’s why we miss things. At the end of the day, we blame ourselves. “Why didn’t I do this and that?” “Did I just miss that?” “Why have I not done something about it?” We put the blame to ourselves because we know we’re the ones who let the chances and opportunities pass, we’re the ones who didn’t act upon things, and we’re the ones who “choose” not to do anything about it. What is left to blame is our lack of will and courage."

Was-to-Will, October 2017
"From ‘was’ to ‘will’, the variation of these words signifies the transition of time which symbolizes the impact and difference it can induce. Similarly, with the literature of the past and the literate of the present, these two have always something to do with the literature of the future. We cannot separate these times as one cannot be distinguished without the other. Although a person cannot be defined by his past, there’s no question that it has surely played a major role to the person we become."

Despite Being Good, December 2017
"Be good, even others are not. Save yourself first- and don't mistake it for being selfish. "You cannot pour from an empty cup." Remember this, that is crucial.
From being a skeptic to being an advocate - YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH KINDNESS.
There's nothing wrong with being good. In fact, that may be the best contribution we can give to the world. No matter how cruel, selfish, and unkind people are, be good. What they do reflects more about them, and speaks less of us.
You won't lose people for your goodness; people will lose you."

"Men can be as vulnerable as women, yet most people firmly believe that they cannot - or should not. That even men think they are not entitled to feel anything. Our feelings are as valid as anyone's. I never thought that a man in my disposition has that kind of vulnerability. I supposed that that's the downside of it. Men are squared by the society to be men. This is evident with suppressed emotions, uncontained ego, and concealed agony."
