Creative Writing

We had a total of 8 entries in the whole academic year 2015-2016. I was in Grade 10 when my English class had occasionally devoted time to write creatively, an ice breaker from the academic teachings and exercises.

It was engaging as the prompts were interesting and challenging. The following are all previously published here in my blog and this page serves as a compiled references to them.

#1 Not My Perspective, 11 June 2015 - ESSAY (9/10)
Prompt: Who am I in the eyes of others?
Excerpt:
Other people can and might say both negative and positive things about me. People might see me in different ways, but in my case, there are things that truly suit my true character and real identity. Though there are still a few wrong conceptions and impressions about me.

#2  Stranger, 18 June 2015 - SHORT STORY (9/10)
Prompt: Pair with your classmate and describe or tell something about your partner
Excerpt:
“He always teases me that I’m ambitious. Well, I admit. I play volleyball and I love it. I have a dream that someday I will be the captain of a volleyball team. He said that he would definitely support me even I’m ambitious. God! What happened to us?” she asked herself.
#3 So What Kind of Line Am I?, 25 June 2015, POEM (10/10)
Prompt: Describe yourself as a line.
Excerpt:
A straight or curve, long and short
Unstable self or some of sort
I’m a straight but slightly bend
No one thinks I can ascend
#4 A Letter to my Favorite Person, 16 July 2015, LETTER (9/10)
Prompt: Write a letter to your favorite person.
Excerpt:
For me, you are the ideal girl I wanted to be with. You’re my favorite person I won’t fail to recall. You are my friend and my enemy. You’re my inspiration and distraction. You’re my crush; you’re my confidante. You’re my everything.
#5 Here Beside You, 23 July 2015, SHORT STORY (10/10)
Prompt: Your favorite person (#4) in your favorite place
Excerpt:
“This place is my escape from everything. I always go here every time I needed to be alone and whenever I wanted to be alone. I think this could be my safe haven. I can think clearly; I can imagine freely; I can feel the isolation from the world. I appreciate solitude more than to be exposed,” I explained before I knew I was speaking my mind.
#6 Three Questions, 26 November 2015, ESSAY (9/10)
Prompt: Three questions you want to ask yourself.
Excerpt:
These three questions were meant for someone and that someone happens to be me. I’m a man of contradiction. I may know every answer to your question but I do not how to answer my own questions myself. I’m full of doubts and I had to question myself to clear those doubts in my mind.
#7 Broken 12, 6 January 2016, ESSAY (9/10)
Prompt: What are your plans for each month of the whole year?
Excerpt:
Another chapter of my life is about to come. Another year full of lessons and mistakes, failures and progress, and happiness and sadness. It’s guaranteed. The New Year had begun and I have a long journey ahead. I have new goals to set. These are the things I wish to happen this year:

#8 Sunset, 9 February 2016, SHORT STORY (10/10)
Prompt: Write a 101-word story.
Excerpt:
I sat along the dike, having the scenery of a sunset. I stared.
I like how my teacher delivered this exercise. It's creative so freedom was often granted with regards to form (be it an essay, poem, or story) as long as we also deliver the given prompt.
